In development

From now on my site is in development. I wanted to throug everything offline and start over, but with all the archive it didn't seem like a good idea. So I just started rebuilding on a subdomain working my way to the main domain.

If you read my post on Change is good then you knew something was on the way. What I wanted to do is concentrate a bit more on photography without having to stop writing. And everything has to be fetched out of the database dynamicly. No more rebuilding with Movable type.

So this is it. I started changing the site. Mostly because I am anxious to start photoblogging. I you came to this post through one of my feeds, you were redirected to the old arcvhive and won't notice any differences. The it is best tot go to the main page and start all over. Now you should see the changes. I'll try to go through this step by step.

The sections

You might have noticed that the menu has been narrowed down to the essential content of the site. The blog, the externals and the photography. The only new section is the photography, where I hopefully will post a daily photograph.

The main page is now some sort of frontpage that collects the most recent posts of each section. To be consistent I moved the blog to a new directory with new archives. The old blog archives will remain accesible and untill everything is developed new post will still be added to the old archives.

Under construction

Because I don't have the time to work out everything at once, I first concentrated on displaying the main new content. The next step is to debug the lot, as post that are in draft are published aswell. After debugging I am going to work out the archives for the photography and for the blog. And I will be adding sÔø?mall features such as previous and next buttons along the way. It's alot of work to work out everything in PHP.

Comments

Comments on blog posts still work, the only problem is that after placing a comment you are directed to the old archives. This is a bug I will be worin on in the future. Comments on photographs are closed for the time being.

Syndication

The syndication feeds will change aswell. The main syndication feeds, now used by you for keeping blog posts up to date, will become general feeds, syndicating the new entries of each section. Each section will have its own feed. The only new feed right now is the photography feed.

So as you can see, there is still a lot of work. But due to exams I don't have the time to work fulltime on the development, so everything will be done in stages, and the site wil be using both new and old layout and archives. Be patient and all will be rewarded. ;) You can however follow new posts without a problem. And if you come across a bug, please let me know!!
