About a year ago I saw Bowlong for Columbine for the first time. It really got me thinking about almost every social problem. I can't wait for Fahrenheit 9/11 to hit the theatres here in Belgium.
Now before you start preparing your statement about the Columbine Shootings or the movies, no this is not an entry discussing these themes. I just wanted to point out to the lyrics af a song I recently listened to. I say listened because I heard it hunderds of times, but now, for the first, I listend to the lyrics. In a way I was really touched (by the lyrics that is).
<!--more-->The song is by NOFX, a punk(rock) band, conveniently named The Columbine Song. At least that is the information I have. I couldn't find the lyrics on the web, nor any clue that this song really exists (offcourse it does, I have it don't I). The official site doesn't seem to list the song, the best confirmation I found was on a personal geocities webpage. Anyway, enough talk. Here is the lyrics. Think!
The Columbine Song by NOFX
When I came home today
I turned on my tv
And it made me really schocked
for what I had to seeI saw a lot of children die
I saw a lot of mothers cry
Well I saw all the pain
and I nearly was drawn insaneI saw a lot of children die
I saw a lot of mothers cry
Well I saw all the pain
and I nearly was drawn insaneWhen I came home today
I turned on my tv
And it made me really schocked
for what I had to seeI saw the soldiers march so proud
for their fatherland
I saw a little boy
with a doll in his handI saw the soldiers march so proud
for their father land
I saw a little boy
with a doll in his handSo look around you
what the world has to offer
well look around you
while we have to sufferWhen I came home today
I turned on my tv
And it made me really schocked
for what I had to see
for what I had to see
for what I had to see
